• Create a distinctive facility dedicated to advancing cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis, and survivorship.

• Facilitate and promote cancer research and studies on health disparities in the RGV, South Texas, and nationally to broaden scientific understanding and improve longevity and health.

• Encourage and integrate groundbreaking research focused on minority health and health challenges.

• Provide support for education, training, and in both basic and clinical cancer research through scientific training, fellowships, and career awards.

• Work collaboratively with all scientific divisions at UTRGV to cancer research initiatives.

• Establish partnerships with the cities of McAllen, Edinburg, and Pharr, as well as private philanthropic organizations, industries, federal agencies, and other institutions to enhance cancer research and training programs.
